Topic: Global Air Pollution
This committee is centered around air pollution and the ongoing struggle to curb its effects. According to the World Health Organization, 99% of the world’s population breathes air that exceeds the WHO guidelines for clean air and contains high pollutant levels, as shown in the chart from WHO below. As this is a problem that affects certain demographics more than others (such as women and people living in lower-income countries), we ask delegates to come up with creative solutions that take into account these levels of inequality. It will be your duty to engage in healthy and respectful debates and write detailed resolutions about the many aspects of this issue with your fellow peers on the day of the conference.

Hi, my name is Nina Fazal, and I am the chair of this specialized committee! I am originally from New York City, and I am an upper at Phillips Exeter Academy. I have been participating in Model UN for the past two years, but outside of Model UN, I enjoy playing squash, studying history and the classics, and participating in affinity groups and PEA’s classics-related clubs. My hobbies include reading, listening to music, and performing music as a vocalist and pianist. I look forward to meeting everyone at committee in April!
