Topic: 2008 Financial Crisis
Our committee is a simulation of the 2008 Financial Crisis, aka the Great Recession. We chose this topic because it is an underlying reason for many of our current economic systems in place. We hope that through preparation for this committee, delegates learn about an important economic event that truly affected the entire world, and that delegates also deepen their understanding of economic systems as a whole.

Hello! My name is Drona Gaddam, and I am a junior at Exeter from Columbus, Ohio. This is my third year doing Model UN, and MUN has been a foundational aspect of my high school experience. Nailing resolutions, talking about committee drama, traveling to conferences, and grabbing food are some of my favorite high school memories. Outside of MUN, I am an active member of Exeter’s economics, investment, and classics clubs. An interest in macroeconomics has complemented my MUN experience, and it was what drew me towards this committee topic. I hope you enjoy and learn a lot through your research, and I am looking forward to welcoming you all to PEAMUN XVII in the spring!

Hi! I'm Ava Kruttschnitt and I'm a sophomore at Phillips Exeter Academy. I'm from San Francisco and I'm going to be the vice chair of the 2008 Financial Crisis specialied committee. This is my 4th year doing Model UN and I've participated in a bunch of high school conferences. This will be my first time staffing a conference and I'm excited to experience the other side of MUN. On campus, I'm in neuroscience club, physics club, debate and peer tutoring. I also play volleyball, basketball, and crew. The financial crisis is a complicated topic, and I hope you guys find interesting solutions and learn about things along the way. I'm super excited to work with all of you soon!
