Topic: Australian Indigenous Voice
Description: In this specialized committee, delegates will discuss a current issue in Australian politics. Australian citizens will vote in October of 2023 on a referendum about whether or not to establish a federal advisory board known as the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. If passed, this referendum will add representation from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples to examine all issues that pass the Australian Parliament from an Indigenous point of view. With many questions lingering and no clear outcome to the referendum, the Voice remains a controversial topic that will give rise to an animated debate.
Committee Dais
Hi everyone! I’m Harry and am a junior at Exeter. I have been doing MUN since the sixth grade, and have participated in many conferences over the years. This is my second time running a committee. I live in Kenya, and moved there from Australia a few months ago. If you have any questions about committee, please don’t hesitate to come find me in the basement of Wentworth (my dorm), where I will be wrestling Phin Gibbs, zoom committee chair (he will most likely be pinned). If I’m not in the basement, I’m probably in my room rewatching an episode of friends or Seinfeld. If you can’t find me there, I’m probably in the bathroom, in which case, shoot me an email. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

My name is Cecily de Menil Reed (she/her). I am a lower at Exeter. I look forward to PEAMUN being my first chairing experience. Besides MUN, I play field hockey and water polo on campus and am passionate about choir, mock trial, debate, history, philosophy, and modern languages. I also sail and play tennis but my main sport is essentially Latin Jeopardy. If not doing any one of these wildly time-consuming activities, I am most likely harassing my friends or eating fresh berries while reading Edith Wharton. I am excited to meet you all soon!

My name is Lily Rampe (she/her) and I am a lower at Exeter originally from Pennsylvania. At school, I play volleyball in the Fall and row crew in the Spring. I also write for the Exonian (our school’s newspaper), play the flute in Concert Band, and of course, Model UN! I joined Model UN for the first time this year and I have been to two conferences. It has been a great experience. I love the engagement and learning. I am a huge history nerd and love anything related to journalism and politics. When I am not doing any of these things, I am probably hanging out with friends or reading a book! My favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird. I cannot wait to work to help you all have a great experience at PEAMUN!
