WHO ARE WE?
PEAMUN is a Model United Nations conference developed and run by students at Phillips Exeter Academy.
PEAMUN is for delegates of all skill levels, both novice and experienced delegates alike. PEAMUN XVI marked a landmark post-pandemic return to an in-person debate format and drew over 300 delegates to our New Hampshire campus. Our staff are dedicated Phillips Exeter students who each year volunteer their time and effort to become trained staff members and chairs, proficient in a world issue/topic that they are passionate about. Courtesy of them, we are able to offer a variety of topics throughout our General-Assembly, Specialized, and Crisis committees. Our conference promises a fun, engaging, and educational Model UN experience that is sure to provide delegates with the skills to become a confident public speaker, debater, and a global leader alike. |
Keynote Speaker: Alex de Waal
PEAMUN XVI is proud to host Alex de Waal as this year's keynote speaker. Professor de Waal is the Executive Director of the World Peace Foundation. Considered one of the foremost experts on Sudan and the Horn of Africa, his scholarly work and practice has also probed humanitarian crisis and response, human rights, HIV/AIDS and governance in Africa, and conflict and peace-building. He was on the list of Foreign Policy’s 100 most influential public intellectuals in 2008 and Atlantic Monthly’s 27 “brave thinkers” in 2009 and is the winner of the 2024 Huxley Award of the Royal Anthropological Institute.
