A former diplomat, he has served as the First and Second Secretary in the Embassy of Portugal in London, the Consul-General in Madrid from 2004-2007, and Ambassador of Portugal in Thailand, Beijing, and Paris among other duties. During his tenure, he has also been appointed as a non-resident Ambassador to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Monaco.
